Here are some cool facts you might not known about Terin before. The list is small, but we hope to update this list in the near future with the newest cool facts from Terin herself!
Terin began her gymnastics career when she was only two years old.
The Humphrey family moved from Albany to Bates City to be
closer to the Fongs'
Blue Springs club. Terin's parents, Lisa and Steve, will be moving to Union Star
once Terin's career at the GAGE is complete.
Terin started training at the GAGE when she was nine years old, a week after Al
and Armine were married.
Terin's family has made lots of sacrifices to support their daughter's gymnastics
dream. Her parents have help pay for some of her training expenses by cleaning
up the Great American facility. Her dad, who is also a banker during the day, has
been building houses on nights and weekends, while her mom, has been working
at the Village Gardens nursery in Blue Springs.
Terin is well known for her strong floor routines and amazing dance skills,
but it wasn't always like that. According Terin herself, she is not a natural
dancer, and it took her a couple of years to get it down right.
Terin's favorite event to perform is uneven bars,
Terin knows a few basic words and phrases in French. She learned them before
traveling to France for the 1999 France vs USA competition.
Terin enjoys collecting beanie babies and doing crafts.
Terin thinks the best part of the gymnastics is the meets, because when you
accomplish something, the more she feels like what she is doing is right. It
makes what she is doing each day worthwhile and keeps pushing her forward.
Terin drives a vintage Mustang.
Terin considers herself a perfectionist.
Terin's brother, Shannon, is a member of the United States Marine Corps unit that
guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington.
After the 2004 Olympic Games, Terin is planning to take Olympic rings tattoo to her
shoulder.
